Biopsychosocial Model

Biopsykosocial model, dansk

Definition

The Biopsychosocial Model is a way of understanding your health and healing that includes your body, your mind, and your relationships. Instead of saying problems are just in your body or just in your head, this model sees you as a full person: flesh, feelings, and family. Originally proposed by Dr. George Engel and reimagined through Michael C. Walker’s ISA lens, it steps away from the cold, medical view of health and looks at how stress, trauma-like experiences, purpose, environment, and culture all play a role in how you feel and who you become.

Why It Matters

You’re not a machine with broken parts. You’re a living system. If you want real change, you need a model that sees your whole story, not just your symptoms.
